Fall 2024 Coming in Hot!

My summer flew by, how about yours? Actually, my fall has been flying by too, which is why my latest update hasn’t come out till now. But the wait is over! Here is a run down of what I have been up to, and what I am about to be up to!

SUMMER IN REVIEW

I had two big projects that consumed most of my summer. First, I was back out at the Tybee Marine Science Center working on their latest exhibit of the Five Sea Turtles of Georgia. I was painting turtles, building habitats, fixing trawling nets and learning so much about the five species that swim our coast! Tybee is most known for their Loggerhead turtle sightings. Not only does the TMSC host two stragglers which they raise until they are three years old, but the island is also known for its nesting sites. To the left, you can see a cross section of a turtle nest we created. The structure was built onto foam, we 3D printed the hatchlings and I painted them to look like loggerhead turtles. The eggs are actually ping pong balls because turtles lay circular eggs, unlike the oblong eggs we are used to seeing from birds. In addition to the hatchlings, I also painted the Green, Kemps Ridley and Hawksbill turtles. If you are out on Tybee go check out the exhibit, it’s located downstairs next to the turtle tank.

The other big project I had this summer was working on three new paintings for Green Truck Pub! I was really excited for this project. We wanted to celebrate the less touristy parts of Savannah and we settled on Daffin Park, a view down one of the lanes and Tiedeman Park. All paintings we based on reference photos taken around dusk after a rain storm- the most beautiful time in Savannah in my opinion! In addition to these being a bit larger than I normally work (18”x24”) I also made frames for these and coated them in resin so they would be easy to clean. Swing by Green Truck to check them out. I have 8”x10” prints of all three available for purchase.

Whats Next? A lot…

I got a few things coming up on the calendar for the remainder of 2024. Next up is the Georgia Color 6th Annual Plein Air Competition hosted by Olmsted Arts that will be happening right here in Savanna, GA! The event runs from October 16-20 and there will be 30 artists from around Georgia meeting here in Savannah to compete. All the artist start with a few paintings in the gallery and will add more each day. If you are interested in checking out the gallery you can view it online here or you can see it in person starting October 17th at 2125 E. Victory Dr. Savannah GA 31404. Be sure to come out October 18th to Tiedeman Park at 5 PM for the sunset competition, all the artist from the competition with be participating in a quick paint starting in that location. Artists from the community are invited to sign up as well! I recommend checking out the full schedule of events and to be on the look out for 30 artists painting around town!

I also have two markets this fall. Gordonston Art Fair is in the process of being rescheduled after Hurricane Helene knocked some trees down in the beautiful Juliette Gordon Low Park, so stay tuned for the new date, but if you just can’t wait to see me, no worries… Isle of Hope Art and Music Festival is coming right up! I am thrilled to be located at Paxton Park for October 26th. These are the only two markets I will be doing this fall and as Gordonston has yet to be rescheduled make sure you make it out to Isle of Hope on the 26th. Of all the markets I have done so far in Savannah, these are the only ones happening in the fall that are truly artist markets. You will find that perfect painting for the entry way, or the creation that best captures your memory of a beloved place… be sure to go check them out, it’s like getting to go to an outdoor art museum.

But wait, there’s more…

I will also be curating two art shows at White Whale Craft Ales! In November we will have our first Frisbee Art Show! The show will be a celebration of all the artist athletes that participate in the Savannah Ultimate Frisbee community, and there are a lot! The Frisbee Art Show will run the month of November and the following month in December we will have a print show. The print show will be a place for holiday shopping to support local artists. Everything hanging will be prints and can be taken that day. Keep an eye on my social media for more details.

AND as a special treat for you, the person who is still reading.. a print give away! Take a selfie with the painting of mine at Green Truck Pub that you like the most and post it to social media and tag me and Green Truck and I will give you a free print! This is valid for the first three people who take selfies and tag the appropriate accounts (@adriennebeklantart and @greentruckpub). Thanks for being here and thanks for the support!
